The City of Hartford has been the focus of many urban renewal projects in recent years and Milone & MacBroom, Inc. is proud of the role we have played in many of these. Most recently, our planning staff assisted the City in completing an application for approximately $33.58 million in grant funds through the federal Transportation Improvements Generating Economic Recovery (TIGER) grant program, a component of the federal ARRA stimulus program.
If awarded, these grant funds will be utilized to complete the Union Station Connectivity project. The goal of this project is to increase pedestrian access to mass transit through the implementation of streetscape and roadway improvements. The Union Station Connectivity project is part of a larger planning, development and transportation framework in Downtown Hartford called the Hartford Transportation Pathways Strategy (HTPS), which is focused on adding and augmenting transportation modes; providing supportive services for multi-modal transportation; facilitating connections to neighborhoods and jobs; and facilitating transit-oriented development generated by multi-modal transportation.
We are eagerly awaiting the early 2010 decision on this grant application.
